John Bernecker was a stuntman who worked in the film and television industry. He was born on March 2, 1984, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and grew up in the Atlanta area. Bernecker began his career in the entertainment industry in 2009 and worked on numerous productions, including "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," "The Walking Dead," "Black Panther," and "Logan." He was known for performing high-risk stunts, including wire work and falls.
Bernecker tragically died on July 14, 2017, while working on the set of "The Walking Dead" in Georgia. He fell 22 feet from a balcony onto a concrete floor and suffered serious head injuries. Despite efforts to save his life, Bernecker died in the hospital the following day. His death prompted an investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and sparked a discussion about the safety of stunt work in the entertainment industry.
